Auto components
Auto ancillaries run on customer schedules, tight quality limits and a lot of job work: plating, heat treatment and machining sent outside.
Who uses it: Tier 2 and tier 3 suppliers in clusters such as Hosur, Sriperumbudur and Oragadam.
Common problems without an ERP
- Schedules change weekly and stock is planned on paper.
- A customer complaint needs the raw-material lot, and nobody can find it.
- Material at job workers is not tracked until it is lost.
What the company gains
- Plan purchase and production from the order book.
- Trace any part back to its steel lot in minutes.
- Rejections tied to the order and lot, with CAPA.
- Job work challans for every outside process.
Numbers to watch
- Customer PPM
- On-time delivery to schedule
- Stock at job workers
- Scrap percentage
Government rules to follow
- GST rate
- Motor-vehicle parts (HSN 8708) are 18%; listed tractor parts are 5%. Tag the HSN on every item.
- Job work
- CGST Act s.143: inputs back within 1 year, capital goods within 3; moulds, dies and tools are exempt from the limit.
- ITC-04
- Report job-work movements half-yearly above ₹5 crore turnover, otherwise yearly.
- BIS steel
- Covered steel products must carry the BIS mark under the Steel Quality Control Orders.
