ARUKZ ERP

BOM and work order software for small manufacturers

Bills of materials, manufacturing orders, work centres and work orders in one cloud ERP. See what was made, what is still in progress and why a target was missed.

What it covers

Production in ARUKZ ERP is built from four records that most small manufacturers already keep, usually in separate registers:

  • Bill of materials (BOM). The components and quantities needed to make one unit of a product. A product can have more than one BOM.
  • Manufacturing order. An instruction to make a quantity of a product by a date. Confirming it reserves the components listed on the BOM.
  • Work centre. A machine, a line or a bench, with the operations that happen there.
  • Work order. One operation of a manufacturing order at one work centre, with the time actually spent on it.

Because they sit in the same system as purchase, stock and sales, a manufacturing order knows whether its raw material has arrived, and a sales order knows whether its goods have been made.

From order to finished goods

  1. Raise a manufacturing order for a product and quantity. The components come from the BOM.
  2. Confirm the order. Stock is reserved; anything short shows as waiting for material.
  3. Record production. Components are consumed from the lots you pick, and finished goods are added to stock.
  4. Close the order. The finish date and the quantity produced are kept against it.

Operators can log time against a work order and mark lost time with a reason, such as reduced speed or a breakdown.

Why a target was missed

Most systems tell you that you made 25 against a plan of 50. ARUKZ ERP also splits the missing 25 into reasons, worked out from the records rather than typed in:

Reason Where it comes from
Still in production Manufacturing orders that are confirmed but not finished
Not scheduled Planned quantity for which no order was ever raised
Waiting for raw material Orders whose components have not been received
Quality rejection Rejections recorded against the product in the period
Machine hours lost Time marked as lost on work orders, grouped by reason

It also shows the average number of days from raising an order to finishing it.

Job work

When part of the process is done outside, such as plating, heat treatment or machining, raise a subcontract order, send the material on a challan and book the receipt when it comes back.

What it does not do

ARUKZ ERP does not yet schedule orders automatically against machine capacity, and there is no drag-and-drop planning board. Orders are planned by date and you decide the sequence.
