Plastics, rubber and packaging
Moulding and packaging units run machines with moulds and dies, track material by weight and batch, reuse scrap as regrind, and carry extended producer responsibility.
Who uses it: Injection and blow moulders, rubber goods makers, printers and packaging converters, as in Sivakasi.
Common problems without an ERP
- Material weight in and out does not match.
- Mould life and maintenance are not tracked.
- EPR targets and returns are handled late.
What the company gains
- Material balance by batch, including regrind.
- Mould and die life logged.
- Data ready for EPR returns.
Numbers to watch
- Material yield
- Mould shots against life
- Recycled content share
Government rules to follow
- EPR registration
- Plastic Waste Management Rules: producers, importers and brand owners register on the CPCB EPR portal.
- Annual EPR return
- Producers, importers and brand owners file by 30 June after the year; processors by 30 April.
- Recycled content
- Rigid packaging (Category I) must carry 40% recycled plastic in 2026-27.
- Banned items
- Listed single-use plastics are banned, and carry bags must be at least 120 microns.
