Garments and knitwear
Garment units work order by order, style by style, with size and colour breakdowns, most processes done by job workers, and much of it exported.
Who uses it: Knitwear and garment exporters and domestic brands, as in Tiruppur and Karur.
Common problems without an ERP
- Fabric and cut pieces disappear between job workers.
- Export paperwork and payment realisation are tracked in spreadsheets.
- The GST rate on a garment depends on its price.
What the company gains
- Each order planned from fabric to packing.
- Pieces tracked at every job worker.
- The right GST rate picked from the sale price.
Numbers to watch
- Fabric consumption per piece
- Orders shipped on time
- Pieces at job workers
Government rules to follow
- GST by price
- Apparel and made-ups are 5% up to ₹2,500 a piece and 18% above it, since 22 September 2025.
- Job work
- Challan for every outside process; inputs back within 1 year.
- Export without IGST
- File a Letter of Undertaking (RFD-11) to export without paying IGST.
- Export realisation
- FEMA: realise export proceeds within 9 months of shipment (from 1 October 2026), 12 months if invoiced in rupees.
