Pharmaceuticals
Pharma units work under GMP: every batch has a full record, every licence is tracked, and labels carry codes for track and trace.
Who uses it: Formulation and API makers, nutraceutical units and pharma distributors.
Common problems without an ERP
- Batch records are on paper and slow to review.
- Expiry and returns are hard to control.
- Licence categories and registers are tracked by hand.
What the company gains
- Each batch linked to its materials and quality checks.
- Stock by batch.
- Inspections and deviations recorded.
Numbers to watch
- Batches released on time
- Deviations per batch
- Stock near expiry
Government rules to follow
- Revised Schedule M
- All drug makers follow revised GMP since 1 January 2026 (large units since June 2024).
- Batch record
- Drugs Rules: a numbered record for every batch with dates, inputs and manufacture and expiry dates.
- Licences
- Manufacturing and sale licences under the Drugs Rules, with the drug categories each covers.
- QR codes
- APIs carry a QR code at every packaging level; more categories are added from July 2027.
