ERP basics
ERP implementation steps
Implementation is the work between buying an ERP and running the business on it: map the process, set it up, load data, train people, go live, and support them in the first weeks.
Who it is for: The owner, the person who will lead the project inside the company, and every department head.
Key points
- 1. Map how an order flows today, from enquiry to payment, on one page.
- 2. Set up the company, taxes, warehouses, products and roles.
- 3. Load masters and opening balances on a month-start date.
- 4. Train each desk on its own screens with its own data.
- 5. Go live on one date; stop the old spreadsheets that day.
- 6. Review weekly for the first month and fix what slows people down.
What the law expects
- Opening balances
- Accounting practice: opening figures must agree with the audited closing balances of the old books.
- Access and logs
- CERT-In directions: keep system logs for 180 days and report cyber incidents within 6 hours.
